Next year, 2010, we thinking about to go on your side..
Wa are laughing to this... next year.. 2010...
Seems like posts from Russia are traveling long time
Well as this was posted (Objavljeno: 27 okt 2010 22:58) we suppose that you meant 2011.
There are few things that you have to know before visiting Slovenia (considering MTB AM cycling).
Yes we have beautiful nature which is combination of mountains, hills, plains and coastal region. Therefore we have great conditions for MTB. In may you can expect some greater amounts of snow in higher regions (Alps...) so therefore Alpine MTB cycling depends mostly on your expirience, technique and stamina. You can easily use our southern region for MTB cycling but do not expect altitudes above 1500m.
VERY IMPORTANT: Use of bicycle in natural enviroment is forbiden in Slovenia (especialy in protected national park areas) - MTB is still in some gray areas of the law and we are trying to make things different. Therefore you cannot find many GPS tracks of interesting routes. The only law allowed option is MTB parks (
http://www.bikepark.si/ in Kranjska Gora,
http://www.unitur.eu/ on mountain Rogla,
http://www.pohorje.org/en/mariborsko-pohorje-summer/ in Maribor and plenty of smaller bike parks like
http://www.ski-javornik.si/index.php?op ... 79&lang=sl near little town Godovič but still less than hour away from our capital town Ljubljana) which are also ski resorts so some or most of them do not operate in early May.
Well it looks like your only option is to use our tourist organisation which will give you pleanty of tarmac and macadam routes (uselles) or to try finding someone as a MTB guide in Slovenia.
Don't be discouraged by my writting because I'm preatty sure that you would enjoy MTB week (or longer) in our little but beautiful country. It will only take you little more planning than for France or Austrian alps.
Bye
